A lovely holiday vignette (in my favorite color story) styled by Emily Henderson.
As seen in her Holiday Guide:
This week wraps up holiday decorating for our clients. This will be the 5th house, not including my own (if I can muster any more energy/creativity/cheer) so I've decided to share a few little "nuggets" on trimming the tree.
1. If your tree is real, low lying branches and heavy areas should be pruned just enough so that your ornaments have room to dazzle and packages may fit underneath.
1b. Keep the trimmed branches! You may want to use them in other spots such as on the mantel or a tabletop.
2. As you unpack your decorations, group like things together - by size and color. Then decorate the tree with one group at a time. This allows you to space things evenly and get into a rhythm.
3. Hang large ornaments near the bottom, smaller ones near the top. And always start layering ornaments closest to the trunk, working your way out.
4. Flowers and florals make a statement when sporadically tucked into the tree. Same goes for ribbon and that fun meshy zhushy stuff.
5. A tree can easily swallow up decorations, so the more the merrier. Some of the prettiest trees we've done have taken all day to finish (6 strands of 350 lights and 8 rubbermaid tubs of ornaments) but absolutely worth the effort.
Need more direction? Check out some in-depth tutorials here and here. And happy trimming!
I've wanted a tattoo for years. My dad and I were supposed to go get them together 5 years ago... he went for it and I backed out at the last minute. I couldn't land. There was no way I could commit to one, very permanent image.
Thanks to Tattly, a line of designer temporary tattoos - I'm allowed to be fickle.
Genius!
How cute are these breakfast pyramid plates from Young Alexander?

After blogging about this coveted spot a while back, I got to experience The Dry Bar Dallas over Labor Day weekend with some girlfriends. What a treat! Everything from the paper goods (above) to the head massage was a chic experience. We sipped mimosas, thumbed through magazines and watched a movie on the flat screen tv.
I highly recommend going with a group - its the perfect way to celebrate a birthday or a bachelorette party. Although, I would go solo in a heartbeat. A trip to the Dry Bar is like cheap therapy.
